Grand Rapids

Heute war ich auf einem Ausflug mit meiner Kunstklasse in Grand Rapids. Wir fuhren typisch amerikanisch mit dem gelben Schulbus hin und ich habe es sehr genossen mal wieder in einer etwas größeren Stadt zu sein. Zudem ist Grand Rapids auch wirklich schön. Und was es noch schöner machte war, dass gerade eine internationale Kunstaustellung überall in der ganzen Stadt war. Wir sind also durch die Innenstadt gelaufen und haben uns alles angeschaut. Außerdem sind wir in einige Museen gegangen, welche auch echt interessant waren. Mittag haben wir dann in einem Salatrestaurant gegessen - ja, Salat! Ich war auch erstaunt 😀

I LIVED my dream (Video)

today one year ago I started the most amazing, life-changing, and memorable 10 month of my life. I still remember the first weeks when every trip to the grocery market was super exciting, the biggest challenge of the day was to open my locker, and some talks could have been in Chinese as well because I didn't understand a word. But time flew by and people who were once just names on a sheet of paper became my family, people I just met became friends, and Michigan became my second home. This year taught me SO much and I cherish all the memories and experiences I made, beautiful and bad. how it is to get "home" after an exchange year

People often tell you how hard it is to go on exchange and start a new life... how to adapt to a new environment and how to find friends… but what do they say about the time after? Even though sometimes my time in the US seemed like eternity, time flew by and I always knew the day would come and I have to leave the life I just built. I had to leave the people that I love like my own family. I had to leave some of the most loving and caring friends I’ve ever had. I had to leave the little town that became my second home, my high school, and just every single thing I worked so hard to get within the year. But most of all, I had to leave the experience. Leaving your exchange year means it will NEVER be the same again. Sure you can come back and I will, but I’ll never open my locker again or celebrate homecoming. I can’t text my exchange friends, because they will still be all over the world. Even with my family, will it ever be the same again or just feel like a vis...

South Carolina: Von kaputten Dächern, Polizisten und Sonnenaufgängen am Strand

Meine Youth Group fährt jedes zweite Jahr auf einen Mission Trip . Diesen Sommer ging es nach South Carolina und Suzy und ich hatten die Ehre mitfahren zu dürfen. 💓 Seit Monaten hatte ich mich auf diese Zeit gefreut, denn was ist aufregender als mit deinen Freunden wegzufahren? Am 16. Juni sind wir dann also um Mitternacht in unser Abenteuer aufgebrochen. 16 Stunden haben wir gebraucht, glaube ich. Angekommen, waren wir fix und fertig von der Hitze . Es waren weit über 30 Grad und keiner von uns war darauf vorbereitet. Gut, dass Amerikaner überall und immer Klimaanlagen haben! 😅 Wir haben dann also angefangen uns einzurichten und nach und nach die anderen Gruppen kennengelernt. Abends gab es immer Worship und kleine Predigten oder Aufgaben für die Gruppen zu lösen. Auch morgens gab es immer eine kleine Andacht . Danach sind wir zu unseren Arbeitsstellen gefahren, schließlich waren wir da um anderen Menschen zu helfen. Meine Gruppe hat das Dach einer sehr arme...
